2019-2020 Tribe Show Choir Auditions

Auditions for next year’s Show Choir will be held on May 1, May 2 and May 6 from 3:30-5:00 pm. Auditions will include both vocals and dance, and you are required to attend at least one day of auditions. Please be aware that the district mandated fee for all middle school show choirs for the 2019-2020 school year will be $400. Applications are available in the front office or you may contact Mrs. Freesemann in the Choir Room.

 

8th Grade Boys Basketball Tryouts

Basketball tryouts for current 7th grade boys wanting to play basketball next school year will be held Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10 at the High School Auxiliary Gym from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  A current physical is required (the physical must be dated on or after May 1, 2019), and players should wear a light colored t-shirt with their name on the back of the shirt.

 

8th Grade Day T-shirts

All orders are due on Wednesday, April 24 to Mrs. Smith in the main office.  If you need another order form, extras are available in the main office.

 

After School Tutoring

If you need help on any assignments and want to work with Mrs. Maguire in the media center on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00 pm, please sign the clipboard in the main office. 

 

Athletic Physicals

Students that do not have a physical and/or wanting to get one that will be good for the 2019-2020 school year can do so at the BAHS Fieldhouse from 5:30-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 2. Cost for the physical is $25.

 

BAFA Show Choir Auditions

Auditions for the BA Freshman Academy Show Choir will be held Wednesday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27. On Thursday and Friday, there will be mandatory Dance Clinics from 4:00-5:30 pm. On Saturday, there are mandatory Vocal Auditions from 8:00-11:00 am and mandatory Dance Auditions from 2:00-5:00 pm. All dance clinics and auditions will be held in the BAFA Choir Room. Early College High School

New for fall 2019, incoming freshman and sophomores can participate in a program called Early College High School. This program allows students to take high school level courses on the Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow campus while simultaneously equipping them to successfully undertake college coursework upon completion of 10th grade. Interested in learning more? The district is hosting four forums to inform students and parents about this opportunity. Football Information

7th graders wishing to participate in football next school year will have mandatory workouts at Oliver Middle School on Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17. Students will catch the athletic shuttle to Oliver and will need to have a ride home from OMS by 5:30 pm. Students must also have a current 2018-2019 physical in order to participate, and those forms are available in the main office. Athletic shorts, t-shirt, cleats and a padded girdle are needed for every practice.

 

Girls Softball Tryouts

If you are interested in playing Junior High or Junior Varsity softball next school year, please sign up in the main office and pick up a flyer with the dates and times of tryouts. There is also information available about athletic physicals being given at the High School as well as other forms if you choose to go to your own doctor.

 

Girls Wrestling

Calling all female athletes who are interested in joining Oklahoma’s first official girls wrestling program! Middle school girls wrestling will be open to all girls entering 7th or 8th grades next school year and will be offered as a 6th hour athletic course. Wrestlers will ride a shuttle to a different school campus and will have to be picked up after practice is over. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Bailey or Mrs. Lambe in the counseling office.

 

Lady Tiger Volleyball Tryouts

Information about volleyball tryouts May 6-7 for current 6th and 7th grade girls and May 9-10 for current 8th grade girls is located in the main office. All tryouts will be held at Oneta Ridge Middle School.

 

Proficiency Based Promotion Testing

Applications for Proficiency Based Promotion testing are now available in the Counseling Office. Applications are due by May 10, and no late applications be accepted. The PBTs will be given on June 4, 5, and 6 at the Education Service Center (81st & Main Street). Proficiency Based Promotion (PBP) is a process which awards credit for students’ knowledge in the core curriculum areas, including reading, language arts, math, science, social studies and foreign languages, through an assessment process. It is available to students in grades 1-12. More information can be found at www.baschools.org.

 

Summer Credit Advancement Opportunities

Current 8th graders may pick up an application for Summer Credit Advancement in Algebra I, Spanish I, or Spanish II in the Counseling Office. The cost for each semester is $150. Students may only take one course per summer semester. Summer semester 1 begins Monday, June 3 and ends on Thursday, June 27. The deadline to enroll for Summer Semester 1 is Wednesday, May 29. All enrollment forms and money must be taken to Broken Arrow High School. We cannot accept any summer enrollments at SMS. More information can be found online at www.baschools.org.

 

Talent Show Information

The list of students who will be performing in the Talent Show on May 3 is posted in the cafeteria as well as in the main office.

 

Tiger Swim Tryouts

Current 8th graders that are interested in participating in next year’s swim team, tryouts will be held on Friday, April 26 from 4-6 pm and again on Saturday, April 27 from 9-11 am at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club.  For more information there are flyers available in the main office.

 

Yearbooks   

Have you bought your 2018-2019 yearbook? There is only a limited number of copies left for purchase so don’t forget to stop by Ms. Melton’s room #146 as soon as possible. The cost is $35.
