Thank you message from Board of Education President Steve Allen

This week, Oklahoma students and teachers are embarking on a new adventure as every school district turns to distance learning in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Although we did not anticipate ending the school year this way, I am incredibly proud of our creative educators and administrators who are connecting with students in new, innovative ways and are continuing to support them, both academically and emotionally. It truly makes me proud to be a Tiger.

While this global health crisis has presented a number of challenges, it also has allowed us to come together as a Broken Arrow family. In two weeks, the district’s child nutrition team has served more than 20,000 meals to local children 18 and under. They are braving the frontline to serve Broken Arrow students, and I am incredibly grateful for their commitment. In addition, our schools donated three pallets of medical supplies to local hospitals and nursing homes to help fill a gap and make a measurable difference in our community.

On behalf of the Board of Education and myself, I want to thank our school employees for their hard work and dedication; our teachers and administrators for their flexibility; and our students and families for accepting the challenge of distance learning.

It’s in times like these that we realize a school is not just a building. It’s the people inside the building who make a difference. I’m confident we will finish the year just as strong as we always do. Hang in there, BA. We will get through this TOGETHER.

Sincerely,

Steve Allen
