One of our goals at Aspen Creek Elementary is to help provide a positive and successful school experience for our students. Some of the counseling duties include counseling individual students as needed, counseling small groups of children with similar concerns (social skills, divorce, anger management etc.), consulting with teachers and assisting them in meeting individual student's needs as well as coordinating referrals to school and community agencies and meeting with parents.

Guidance services are available to all parents/guardians and their children. Please feel free to the counseling office 918-259-4410 if you have a concern or a question.

Visit district's webpage for parent resources.

Doctors/Psychologists

Doctors and psychologists often want teacher input with diagnosis of childhood disorders. If a doctor or psychologist sends a checklist for the teachers to complete, or wants a copy of the student’s records, you need to see the counselor to sign a release. This is because you are asking Broken Arrow Public Schools (the teacher) to give information to a third party about your child. It is district policy that all such information is mailed or faxed directly to the doctor or psychologist.

Small Groups & Guidance

Individual and group counseling services are offered for students who need additional assistance in a specific area. Students are eligible for individual or small group counseling through self, teacher or parent referral. These counseling sessions are confidential. Counselor will breach confidentiality if she believes that the child is in danger of any kind.

Parent permission is required for student participation in a small group. Small group sessions meet in the counselor's office once a week for 20 to 30 minutes.
