Message from Supt. Dr. Janet Vinson: 2021-22 Reentry Plan

Broken Arrow families,

We are starting this year with a renewed sense of purpose and passion by celebrating things that make our school district and community such a special place. Even after 30 years in education, there is truly nothing better than welcoming our students and staff back to school.

With August already here, I encourage you visit our Back-to-School Central webpage, which is designed to help you find everything your family needs to be ready for the first day of school. This page includes schedule pickup and meet your teacher dates, school supply lists, student handbooks and more.

As we look to the next school year, we are reminded that the last 18 months have been challenging for everyone. While we will continue to adhere to several protocols established last school year to protect the safety of our students and staff, we are also working to “return to normal” with as few interruptions as possible to learning and activities.

On our website, you can review the district’s 2021-22 reentry plan, which outlines COVID-19 related protocols for the coming year. Here are some highlights:

  • In accordance with Oklahoma state law Title 70, Section 1210.190, face coverings/masks will not be required for students or staff.
  • The State Health Department has informed the public they will not recommend quarantines for vaccinated, symptom-free people (including students and staff), even if they are exposed to someone who has tested positive.
  • Our dedicated operations team will continue to deep clean and sanitize our school facilities, and all staff members will continue to encourage thorough handwashing. Hand sanitizer will also be readily available for students.
  • COVID-19 vaccines are not required for students or staff; however, if you are interested in receiving the vaccine for you or another member of your family, please visit tulsa-health.org for more info.
  • All protocols and procedures are reviewed and updated on a regular basis. If any updates or transitions occur throughout the school year, communication via all regular channels will be shared with parents/guardians and students.

As always, we are here to help your family with any concerns or questions, and we encourage you to contact your child’s principal or the district office.

The success and safety of our students always remains at the forefront of our core values. We appreciate your support and involvement. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2021-22 school year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Janet Vinson
Superintendent
