Arrowhead Elementary school was built in 1970 with an office, 10 classrooms and a cafe-gym-atorium. Since the passage of bond issues in 2003 and 2009, several additions to the school have occurred. We now have a full-sized gym, cafeteria, science lab, media center, and 30 full-sized classrooms. Arrowhead has smart boards in every classroom and all the staff are so proud of how beautiful are building has become. It is truly a great day to be a Tiger!
All of our teachers are considered "highly qualified" and each is a certified teacher with a current Oklahoma standard teacher's certificate. We believe that Arrowhead is a great place to learn.
Please feel free to contact us if you need anything. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Jennifer Peterson, Principal
Ms. Peterson graduated Chelsea High School in 1992 and then earned her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University in 1996. She began her career in Tulsa Public Schools teaching science to sixth graders. After meeting her husband, Ron, a United States Marine, she moved to Beaufort, South Carolina where she taught 8th grade English. While following her husband during his twenty-two year career with the Marines, she had the opportunity to teach seventh and eighth grade science in Yucca Valley, California. She then taught fifth grade for the Department of Defense in Okinawa, Japan. After returning to the states she taught first grade at New Venture Christian School in Oceanside, California. After her husband retired from the Marine Corps in 2007, her family returned home to Broken Arrow where she taught fourth grade at Country Lane Elementary and was elected site teacher of the year in 2008. Upon returning home, Mrs. Peterson began working on her Master’s degree which she received from Northeastern State University in 2010. Shortly thereafter, she began her career as an administrator at Jenks East Intermediate, home to approximately 1000 fifth and sixth graders. While serving as an administrator in Jenks, she had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan and begin a distance learning partnership with Bo-Ai Elementary and then later to China with Hanban to learn of the Chinese educational practices. She is a member of both ASCD (Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development) and CCOSA (Cooperative Council for Oklahoma State Administrators) and she has presented at the Rocky Mountain Educational Research Conference.
Mrs. Peterson has been happily married for 13 years and has two children, Jessica and Ronnie, who attend Broken Arrow Schools. She is an avid reader and a life-long learner who enjoys exercising and spending time outdoors. She is overjoyed to be back in Broken Arrow Schools and is excited for the many wonderful years to come as a Tiger!
