Steve Dunn Headshot with the words "Steve Dunn Named 2027-28 Superintendent"

The Broken Arrow Board of Education unanimously voted Tuesday evening to appoint Steve Dunn as the next superintendent of Broken Arrow Public Schools, selecting a longtime district leader to guide one of Oklahoma's largest school districts into its next chapter.

Dunn has served Broken Arrow Public Schools in a variety of leadership roles over the past 15 years, including teacher, coach, assistant principal, assistant director of athletics, executive director of athletics and, most recently, associate superintendent. He also gained valuable district leadership experience while serving in Owasso Public Schools before returning to Broken Arrow in 2018.

“After thoughtful consideration, the Board is confident we have selected the right leader for Broken Arrow Public Schools," said Board President Steve Allen. "Steve Dunn is a proven leader who understands our district, believes in our mission, and has earned the trust and respect of our employees, students and community. We are excited to partner with him as we continue building on the strong foundation that has been established.”

Current Superintendent Chuck Perry congratulated Dunn on his appointment and expressed his support for the board’s decision.

"I could not be more pleased with the Board's decision," Perry said. "Steve understands what makes Broken Arrow Public Schools special. He believes in our people, values our traditions and shares a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. Our district is in great hands and I know it will continue to thrive under Steve’s leadership.”

Dunn said he is honored by the Board's confidence and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Broken Arrow community in this new role.

"It is an incredible honor to be selected as the next superintendent of Broken Arrow Public Schools," Dunn said. "This district has meant so much to my family and me throughout my career. I am grateful to the Board of Education for this opportunity and I look forward to working alongside our exceptional teachers, support staff, administrators, families and community to continue providing outstanding opportunities for every student."

Perry will continue serving as superintendent for the 26-27 school year, and Dunn will assume the superintendency for the 27-28 school year.
