(Coding and Google Apps)

 

Computer I is a one-semester class.  The following are objectives of this class:

1.    Coding/programming -(Tynker.com) - Students will be using Tynker.com.  Tynker is web-based program to teach the basics of programming within video games.  The following are the objectives:

Students will understand and create forever and repeat loops to repeat steps of instructions.
Students will understand and create variables to hold ever-changing values or text.
Students will understand and use control structures or conditions by using IF Then Else Conditions to test the criteria.
Students will understand and create user input using Ask to ask questions to the user.
Students will understand and display information using Say.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of the X and Y axis.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of moving objects using knowledge of the coordinate plane.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of rotation using angles.
Students will understand and demonstrate knowledge of using relational operators, <. >, <=, >=, and ><.
Students will understand and demonstrate knowledge of using logical operators, And, Or, and NOT.
Students will understand and demonstrate knowledge of using mathematical functions, like Random.
Students will understand and demonstrate knowledge of using physics when programming.
Students will understand and demonstrate knowledge of calling or sending codes to specific actors.

2.    Operating system (Windows 7) - Students will learn the basics of creating and deleting files.

3.    Google Apps and Extensions for education----Google Drive, word processing (Google Docs), spreadsheet/graphing (Google Sheets), presentation        (Google Slides)

        A.   Google Drive - Students will upload, save, and delete files and folders using cloud-based technology.

        B.   Google Docs - Students will type and format documents.  Students will create a two-fold brochure.

        C.   Google Sheets - Students will create, format, and calculate in spreadsheets. Students will create a monthly budget spreadsheet. They will also                                         create bar, line, and pie graphs.

        D.   Google Slides - Students will create, format, and present a slide show.

4.    Typing/keyboarding - Students will learn how to type by using correct fingers and work to improve their speed.

5.    Oklahoma Career Information System - Students will login and research job titles by matching jobs with interests.
