Broken Arrow High School’s senior class will celebrate their graduation at Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
In order to ensure a dignified and distinguished graduation ceremony that respects all heritages and religions, Broken Arrow Public Schools has adopted standards and regulations regarding the regalia that graduates may wear at graduation. All graduates are required to wear a school-approved cap and gown at the commencement ceremony. Graduates may also wear hoods, stoles, cords, pins or medals that were earned while they were a student at Broken Arrow and were presented to them by a recognized curricular club or organization.
Students and parents should also be aware of the required process for incorporating non-traditional items into graduation regalia. Students are encouraged to visually celebrate their Native American, religious or ethnic heritage as part of their graduation attire; however, students must complete the required form prior to the graduation ceremony. Failure to follow the process will result in denial of any additions to regalia that fall outside of the approved attire listed on page nine of the Student Handbook.
Please visit the district’s website for more information on Graduation Dress Code and Regalia Standards.
Questions may be directed to the office of High School Principal Kristy Smith or Director of Student Life and Activities Christian Welborn.
