The annual district art show for Broken Arrow Public Schools returns to NSU-Broken Arrow once again, showcasing visual arts from every single school site in BAPS, from Pre-K through 12th grade. The two-week show runs April 6-17 with an awards night scheduled for April 16 to honor site awards and the prestigious Superintendent’s Award winners.

“It is truly the only event in the school year that features collaboration with every school site in the district,” said Adam J. Foreman, associate director of fine arts. “To see how much collective talent we have in our schools is a fulfilling and exciting experience.”

The art spans every building on NSU-Broken Arrow’s campus with exhibits lining every hall. The public is welcome to view the art Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The campus is located at 3100 E. New Orleans near the Creek Turnpike off 101st Street.

A unique addition to the festivities this year is a partnership with Broken Arrow Neighbors, as items are being collected for a hygiene drive. Patrons are encouraged to drop off items in crates across campus for the drive, with an emphasis being placed on shampoo, conditioner, body wash, diapers, pull ups, Dawn dish soap, laundry detergent, deodorant and more.

Independent judges will pick two winners from each school site to receive the Best In Show Award, while 14 artists (eight elementary, six secondary) will be selected for the Superintendent’s Award, which includes a cash prize and having their works displayed in the superintendent’s office at the Education Service Center for one year. There is also the return of the People’s Choice Award where patrons can vote electronically on their favorite piece from the entire show.

The free art show runs April 6-17 at NSU-Broken Arrow. For more information about the BAPS Fine Arts department, please visit BAFineArts.com.
