With so much changing at the state and federal level regarding school meal programs, it’s understandable that families may feel uncertain about what’s accurate. Conflicting news stories and social media posts can add to the confusion.
Here’s what we know for sure:
No matter what happens with funding, all families are strongly encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application each school year.
Even if you’re unsure whether your family qualifies, filling out the application benefits not only your household—but the entire Broken Arrow Public Schools community. Here are five important reasons to submit the application:
You may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. This can lead to meaningful savings on breakfast and lunch costs each month.
It brings in additional funding for our schools. Completed applications help the district secure critical funding for technology, internet access, instructional support and more.
You could save on college readiness exams. Eligible students may receive reduced fees for the SAT, ACT, and AP exams, and gain access to scholarship opportunities.
It may waive college application fees. Many colleges offer application fee waivers based on free/reduced meal eligibility.
It affects our state aid funding. The number of approved applications directly influences the amount of funding our district receives from the state.
The application process is confidential, fast and makes a real difference. Please complete the form.
If you have questions or need assistance with the form, please contact Jesse Cole at 918-259-4565 or jcole@baschools.org.
Thank you for supporting your child’s success—and helping us strengthen our entire school community.
