Creekwood's Clubs & Activities
Broken Arrow Public Schools continually focuses on providing students with educational opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Research shows that school connectedness is one of the most influential factors for success in our students, and it is important for us to create an environment in which every student has a niche.
Membership in the following clubs or activities are voluntary and do not affect classroom grades.

BOTBALL Club: 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Students
Sponsor:
Botball is a fun way for students to gain coding and programming experience! There is an application process that requires an adult reference.
Chess Club: 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Students
Sponsor: Mrs. Clarke
Chess is an engaging game that encourages strategic thinking. The purpose of Chess Club is to teach students the strategies and skills necessary to be successful in the game of chess. By developing these skills at this level, students will be able to apply them as they grow. We provide them the opportunity to practice and improve their game on a regular basis.
Honor Choir: 4th and 5th Grade Students
Sponsor: Mrs. Farlow
Creekwood Honor Choir is for students who love to sing and perform music! Members must try out for this club. The choir will perform several times throughout the year at Creekwood and in the community.
Instrument Ensemble: 4th and 5th Grade Students
Sponsor: Mrs. Farlow
This is a group for students that want to play more instruments! We will focus on playing handbells for the first semester, but also other instruments (drums, xylophones) in the second semester. No prior experience or knowledge is needed. Attendance is very important - each student will be responsible for learning their individual part. We will perform at Creekwood several times during the year.
Kindness and Compassion Club: 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Students
Sponsors: Mrs. Ashepak, Mrs. Roush and Mrs. June Barker
Are you a TIGER? Do you enjoy helping others? Can you start a chain reaction of kindness? If you answered yes to any of these questions this is the right club for you! Activities in the "Kindess Club" will do this year: food drives, helping our community and school, sending care packages and cards to military personnel and other service projects. We need YOU to help make a difference!
Journalism Club: 5th Grade Students
Sponsor:
In Journalism Club, students will sharpen their writing skills and learn the basics of journalism. They will contribute work to the morning announcements, an end of year newsletter, and other journalistic outlets. Students will be encouraged to write about things that are meaningful to them- to "write what they know." Mostly the goal is to have fun and experience the thrill of seeing their hard work in a published form for a real audience-- our school community.
LEGO Club: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade Students
Sponsors: Mrs. Ashepak, Mrs. Kiddwell, Ms. Cooley and Mrs. June Barker
The Lego Club will be exploring the wonderful world of creating things with Legos.
Safety Patrol: 4th and 5th Grades
Sponsors:
The safety patrol program is offered to fourth and fifth grade students. The purpose of safety patrol is to help ensure the safety of our students. Safety patrol members will help students get safely to and from their cars, through the crosswalks and to the buses. We will be looking for students that can and will set a good example for the whole school by being courteous, respectful, dependable and who maintain academic excellence. If you are a bus rider, you will be assigned to a morning post.
Requirements for Participation in Clubs & Activities
Grades
Maintain a minimum of a 70% grade average in all subjects. Member's grades will be checked at progress report times. If any grade falls below 70%, club member will be placed on academic watch. Grade average must meet 70% requirement by end of 9 weeks or club member will be dismissed from club for the remainder of the school year.
Behavior
Habitual behavior issues or frequent office referrals will result in dismissal. Review of club members' conduct will be assessed each trimester. Determination of membership reinstatement will be addressed on an individual basis.
Attendance
Attendance is vitally important. Successful performances depend on the club member's dedication. If a club member has three (3) unexcused absences, he/she will be dismissed from the club for the remainder of the school year. Excused absences include illnesses, doctor appointment, and family emergency. Three (3) tardies will equal one unexcused absence. All absences/tardies will require notification from parent.
Note to Parents
*Club members may be dropped off no earlier than 8:00 a.m. for Choir and Instrument Ensemble.
*Club members may be dropped off no earlier than 8:15 a.m. for all other clubs.
*Siblings may not be dropped off with club members.
