Districtwide art show set for April 8 - 19 at NSU-BA

The fine arts department of Broken Arrow is excitedly presenting its annual districtwide art show, April 8-19, on the campus of NSU-Broken Arrow, located at 3100 East New Orleans Street. The multi-building galleries will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature art from every single school site in the Broken Arrow school district.

“Our visual arts students showcase an undeniable talent from the very beginning of their academic careers,” said Adam J. Foreman, associate director of fine arts. “And to see this transition from elementary up through secondary students is nothing short of astounding.”

Situated across the entire campus of NSU-Broken Arrow, patrons will be able to see their students’ artwork alongside their school peers, as well as enjoy talent from all four corners of the district. Each school site will also hold an open “fan favorite” award where patrons can vote for their artist of choice.

In addition, 14 different student artists will be chosen for the prestigious Superintendent’s Award, where their works will be displayed and recognized for one year in the office of the superintendent in downtown Broken Arrow at the Education Service Center.

“It’s one of the biggest events of the year, and one that encompasses literally every age group and grade from across our nearly 20,000 students,” said Foreman. “No other event brings the district together like this one, and we are always proud to make it something special.”

Wayfinding signage and maps will direct patrons to their students’ school site displays on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus. The show will close on April 19.
