Reentry plan revision in accordance with local & state health departments

When the Board of Education approved the Reentry Plan for the 2021-2022 school year in August, we let you know that if any changes were made, you would be made aware. In accordance with the Tulsa Health Department and Oklahoma Health Department, the district made slight revisions to the reentry plan. You will notice the changes in red below.

CONTACT TRACING

In accordance with the Tulsa Health Department and Oklahoma Health Department, Broken Arrow Public Schools is no longer contact tracing effective March 21, 2022. (Added 3/11/22) 

  • Parents will be notified via email or phone if it is confirmed their student has been in contact at school with someone who tests positive with COVID-19.
  • Students are not required to quarantine/stay home and will be expected to continue to attend classes unless they become symptomatic or they are able to provide a note from a medical professional, as we do with other health-related absences. (Deleted 3/11/22)

I think my child was exposed or I was notified that my child was exposed. What should I do?

In accordance with the Tulsa Health Department and Oklahoma Health Department, effective March 21, 2022, parents will no longer be notified via email or phone if it is confirmed their student has been in contact at school with someone who tests positive with COVID-19. (Revised 3/11/22) Students are not required to quarantine/stay home. Students will be expected to continue to attend classes unless they become symptomatic or they are able to provide a note from a medical professional, as we do with other health-related absences. The health department recommends that a face covering be used up to 14 days after exposure in case transmission has occurred. 

What does “contact” mean?

  • You spent at least 15 minutes or more at a distance of three feet or closer.
  • You had direct physical contact (high five, hugging) with the person.
  • You shared eating or drinking utensils with them.
  • You came into contact with their respiratory droplets (e.g., they coughed or sneezed on you). (Deleted 3/11/22)
