BAPS lifts mask mandate for outdoor activities, masks become optional in buildings June 1

Effective immediately, students and staff who participate in outdoor activities at Broken Arrow Schools will no longer have to wear a mask. These activities include outdoor recess time, athletics, graduation ceremonies, dances and other academic events.

Students and staff will still need to wear masks indoors for the remainder of the school year. After that, staff and students will have the option to continue to wear a mask indoors starting June 1, as masks will become optional.

“Employee and student safety has been our primary focus this year,” said Lori Kerns, assistant superintendent of personnel. “Human Resources has seen an unprecedented year of illness and tragedies, so to have a plan to return to normalcy certainly lifts the hearts and spirits of all the incredibly dedicated employees who have made this year possible for students.”

The district wishes to thank the parents, patrons, staff and students for their patience and kindness during this unprecedented year. We are stronger with your support.
