Virtual Academy students need to select preference for state testing in April

State tests must be taken in person

Virtual Academy parents/guardians with students in grades 3-8 will need to complete an online form to select their preference for upcoming state testing by Monday, Feb. 15. Students can either test during the day or after school. Mandated state testing opens April 6.

Students in grades 3-8 are tested in English Language Arts (ELA) and math. Each test includes two sections. Students in grades 5 and 8 have an additional writing section in the ELA test and will also take a science test, which includes two sections. These state assessments are not timed, but each section of the test will take approximately 60-80 minutes.

Space restrictions and test accommodations could affect test schedules. BAPS staff will do their best to grant first choice of time selection.

Daytime Testing

  • Test sessions are conducted at the student’s home school site.
  • Test sessions could be a mixture of Virtual Academy students and in-person learners.
  • Test sessions are scheduled by a school counselor, and you are notified of dates and times.
  • Sessions could be scheduled in both morning and/or afternoon, depending on grade level and subject being tested.

After-School Testing

  • Test location will be determined once the survey closes.
  • Test sessions will include Virtual Academy students from across the district.
  • Test sessions will begin approximately 30 minutes after the end of the school day.
  • Missed test sessions will need to be arranged through the school counselor at the student’s home school site and are only given during the school day.

All school sites follow strict sanitization and cleaning protocols, and masks are mandatory for all staff and students in grades 3-12.  Social distancing in test sessions will adhere to state testing requirements, and social distancing will be practiced to the fullest level possible upon entering and exiting the testing room. A complete detail of COVID-19 related protocols can be located on our district website at www.baschools.org/COVID19
