BAPS Technology Team Tracks Daily COVID-19 Data
Broken Arrow Public Schools takes the safety and health of students, teachers and staff seriously, and as the school year inches closer to start time, patrons can now track daily COVID-19 cases by ZIP code on the district website, thanks to the Technology Services Department.
Visitors can go to www.baschools.org/covid19 to access not only the school’s reentry plan, but also the color-coded risk phases and the aforementioned ZIP code-based data. By clicking on the icon marked “Current COVID-19 Data,” patrons can access the daily numbers either by ZIP code or city/county. The spreadsheets detail active cases, new cases and the seven-day average per 100,000 people in all six ZIP codes that encompass the Broken Arrow school district boundaries.
The four color-coded risk levels (green, yellow, orange and red) are determined by the number of COVID-19 cases within BA school boundaries as outlined by local and state health departments. COVID-19 cases are reviewed each Monday by district leadership, while color phases will be communicated to school sites on a weekly basis each Monday afternoon.
As of school opening, Broken Arrow schools is following the “orange phase” guidelines for the first nine weeks of school, unless determined otherwise by local, state and district officials. Some of the guidelines in place include physical distancing, mask requirements for staff, visitors and students in grades 3-12, temperature screenings for all guests, and avoidance of large groups or gatherings.
