Karla Dyess was born and raised in Arvada, Colorado. After graduating high school, Karla attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1988.

Karla taught fifth and sixth grades for five years at Betty Adams Elementary School in Westminster, Colorado. During that time she also received her master’s degree in Instruction and Curriculum from the University of Colorado in Denver.

In 1995, Karla and her family relocated to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Karla’s first job with Broken Arrow Public Schools was in 1999 at Wolf Creek Elementary School where she taught second grade for one year and then taught fifth grade and served as the half time assistant principal for several years until moving over to Leisure Park Elementary as the full time assistant principal. Karla served as principal of Arrow Springs Elementary from 2007-2011 and is currently entering her first year as principal at Park Lane Elementary.

Karla has a passion for education and helping children, parents and teachers. Karla takes joy in her profession and strives to make a positive difference in children’s lives daily. One of the reasons Karla entered into education as a profession was because of a special elementary teacher that influenced her own life. She hopes the students’ lives she touches will also be inspired to fulfill their own dreams.

Karla is happily married to Jarrod and they are the proud parents of three daughters who are the products of Broken Arrow Schools. In her free time, Karla enjoys watching her daughters participate in activities, family time, running marathons, working in her flower garden and taking vacations to see her family in Colorado.
 

Tiffany Green, Assistant Principal

Tiffany Green joined Broken Arrow Public Schools in 2008 as an assistant principal at Arrowhead and Rhoades Elementary Schools and currently serves as the assistant principal at Park Lane Elementary. Before coming to Broken Arrow Public Schools, Tiffany served for three years as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Carnegie Elementary School in Tulsa Public Schools. During her 12 years in education, Tiffany taught for 6 years in urban schools with high Hispanic populations in Fort Worth and Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School Districts. She has served as an ELL Coordinator, worked on an AdvacED panel, and coordinated a school-wide writing program. She has also been recognized as Teacher of the Year while teaching in both Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Tulsa Public Schools. Tiffany earned a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish and a master’s degree in School Administration from Northeastern State University. She has completed extensive training in Gifted and Talented instruction, English Language Learners, Great Expectations, and writing. She has also provided staff development in these areas. Tiffany and her husband, Justin, have lived in the Tulsa area for over 6 years. They have a daughter, Teagan, who turned one year old this summer.
