Oneta Ridge's Clubs and Activities

Broken Arrow Public Schools continually focuses on providing students with educational opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Research shows that school connectedness is one of the most influential factors for success in our students, and it is important for us to create an environment in which every student has a niche.

Membership in the following clubs or activities are voluntary and do not affect classroom grades.

Advanced Theatre Arts

Advanced Theatre Arts produces one play each semester and participates in the Fall Middle School Theatre Festival. This class meets during their scheduled class and after school for rehearsals, as needed. The Advanced Theatre Arts class is only available to 8^th graders. To participate in the class, students must have taken Theatre Arts 1 and/or 2 in 7^th grade and must audition in the Spring of 7^th grade.

Art Club

Art Club is open to students in grades 6-7.

Botball

Sponsor:  Brett Toquothty

BotBall is an educational robotics program that engages students in a team-oriented robotics competition. Students are exposed to an inquiry-based, learn-by-doing activity that appeals to their hearts as well as their minds. BotBall prepares our students to be creative and disciplined in the workforce of the future with leadership and teamwork experience by using science, engineering, technology, math, and writing skills to design build, program and document robots in a hands-on project that reinforces their learning. Botball is open to all students in grades 6-8.

Engineering Club

Engineering club meetings are open to all interested students in grade 6-8.

National Geography Bee

Sponsor:  Hilary Smithee

Each year, thousands of schools throughout America send students to the National Geo Bee to compete for college scholarships. Classroom contests will be held in January and the winners will move on to the school bee in February. State bees are held in March with our school winner traveling to Norman, OK to compete. National Championships are held in Washington D.C. in May. Good Luck!

Student Council

Student Council is an organization that gives students the opportunity to be leaders, organize school events, and to help with activities in the community. Student officer elections are in the spring, but all students may serve as representatives. Interested students should plan to attend all meetings, help with fundraisers and community activities, and should be a leader throughout the school. Students should maintain a “C” average in all classes and always demonstrate acceptable behavior.

Technology Student Association

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is the national co-curricular CareerTech Student Organization for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students. TSA chapters take the study of STEM beyond the classroom and give students the chance to pursue academic challenges among friends with similar goals and interests. Together, chapter members work on competitive events, attend conferences on the state and national levels and have a good time raising funds to get there. Chapter organization develops leadership, as members may become officers within their state and then run nationally. TSA chapters are committed to a national service project and are among the most service-oriented groups in the community.

Any student enrolled in Technology Engineering is a member of TSA and may be actively involved while enjoying the benefits of TSA membership including:

Student Leadership - students elect local chapter officers to establish chapter priorities and activities.

Contact with business - competitive events and classroom speakers provide students with a connection to the world of business and industry.

Students receive national recognition - through the achievement program which recognizes student achievements in community, school, and volunteer activities.

Teaches Civic Responsibility - a national service project award allows chapters to volunteer their efforts to help with a national concern.

T.I.G.E.R. Challenge​

In an effort to encourage the development of positive character traits in students, T.I.G.E.R. Challenge is based on five core values: tenacity, integrity, gratitude, expectation and respect, all of which create lifelong student success embodying culture and kindness. It promotes the positive values encouraged by tenants the program with high moral character development that will last beyond the high school years. Some of T.I.G.E.R. Challenge responsibilities include spreading recognition throughout the building, random acts of kindness, anti-bullying, welcoming new students, and other various projects to promote a positive atmosphere. Our main goal is to create a welcoming and positive culture on our campus. Membership is open to all students.

Yearbook Staff

The yearbook staff is responsible for all aspects of creating the yearbook:  sales, photography, design, etc. Students apply near the beginning of the school year.
