Johnson O'Malley (JOM) Services
To be eligible for services through the Johnson O'Malley (JOM) program at Broken Arrow Public Schools, students must be enrolled in the district, and parents must:
(1) Complete a 506 form at the Indian Education Office, located at 701 S. Main St
(2) Provide the student's tribal membership card
The following are services that the JOM program offer BAPS students:
ACT/SAT Fee Reimbursement
The JOM program offers an ACT/SAT fee reimbursement once during a student's junior year and once during a student's senior year. A receipt of payment and a completed ACT/SAT reimbursement form (available in the BAHS College and Career Center) must be submitted to qualify for reimbursement. Fee reimbursement does not apply to the PSAT. Reimbursement takes place through the Indian Education office or Broken Arrow High School College and Career Center.
College Prep Course
JOM partners with Title VI to offer a college prep course for Broken Arrow Indian Education students in grades 11 and 12. Offered at the end of the school year, this class allows students to spend three days visiting area colleges to learn about scholarships and financial aid.
Every fall, JOM partners with Title VI to offer an annual college fair for Broken Arrow Indian Education students in grades 9-12. During this event, more than 30 colleges, universities, higher education representatives and technical schools from across the nation travel to Broken Arrow to meet with Indian Education students.
Haskell Indian Nations University Tour
The JOM program offers a campus tour of Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kan., to Broken Arrow Indian Education juniors and seniors every other year. The next trip will be offered in 2017-18. This university provides tuition, books, housing and meals for only $215 per semester to eligible students.
Elementary Cultural Summer School
The JOM program offers a cultural summer school session to students in grades 4-6. This class allows students to experience native culture through field trips, arts and crafts, languages, activities, literature and traditional foods.
Basic School Supplies for Grades Pre-K through 12
The following dates for school supply pickup for the 2016-17 school year are as follows:
Monday, August 15, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, August 16, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, August 17, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
School supply pickup will take place in the Broken Arrow Academy gymnasium (formerly Haskell Middle School), located at 412 S. 9th St. Students must be enrolled in the JOM program in order to be eligible for free school supplies. JOM requires students to be enrolled in the district, have a 506 form and have their own tribal membership card from a federally recognized tribe.
