Compensation & Benefits:

Certified staff salary is calculated based on years of working experience and college coursework. Salary for brand new teachers will be computed on a bachelor’s degree plus zero years of experience. For experienced certified applicants, additional years of experience, verified by the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), will be recognized at the district level. To contact the OSDE, please visit http://sde.ok.gov/sde/ or call 405-521-3337. Salary will be paid in semimonthly installments. Special Education teachers receive 5 percent above the prevailing wage paid to teachers of children who are non-disabled in the same school district. Alternative Education Teachers receive 5 percent above designated step for that teacher within the adopted salary schedule of the district.

Certified teachers receive the following leave at the beginning of each contract year: Sick leave – 10 days; Personal leave – 3 paid days and 2 sub-deduct days; Sub-deduct – allowed 20 days with $70/day deducted for the cost of the substitute; Emergency leave – 2 days.

Certified staff working four hours or more are eligible for insurance with OMES: Employees Group Insurance Division (EGID). All coverage offered by EGID is optional. A flex benefit allowance ($679.62 as of Jan. 1, 2024) is given when health coverage is taken with EGID. In addition to medical benefits, the district also provides full-time certified staff group life insurance in the amount of $20,000. Optional and dependent life insurance is also available. Disability, cancer, critical care, accident and Texas Life insurance are offered by American Fidelity. Legal Shield is available to all employees as well.
