Centennial's Clubs & Activities
Broken Arrow Public Schools continually focuses on providing students with educational opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Research shows that school connectedness is one of the most influential factors for success in our students, and it is important for us to create an environment in which every student has a niche.
Membership in the following clubs or activities are voluntary and do not affect classroom grades.

Art Club
Sponsor:
This is a club that occurs during the school day. It takes place during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time). It is available to all grades through an application process. It allows for students who are busy with other electives to still enjoy art or just have a second art class for those who can’t get enough! We do a variety of projects throughout the year learning painting and drawing techniques, as well as some sculpture.
Botball
Sponsor: Stephan Deem
Robotics course teaching leadership while learning the fundamentals of coding. Botball uses the coding language of C to create fully autonomous robots. Fully autonomous robots are the future of robotics and the Botball team is preparing for that future. Botball is also a competition among other schools to program the bot to perform specific tasks. The Botball team meets during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time). It is available to all grades through an application process.
Broadcasting
Sponsor: Justin Ennis
Broadcasting is an enrichment class that profiles the diverse activities occurring at Centennial Middle School. Students will get an opportunity to film, edit, and share the videos to the school through the announcement time. The Broadcast Team meets during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time).
Games, Comics, Movies, Trading Cards (GCMT)

GCMT is for any and all students who are interested in games, comics, movies and/or trading cards. Students meet during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time) to hang out with friends, play video games, play and trade in card games, compete in tournaments, discuss movies and comics, and whatever else the students come up with as a group.
National Junior Honor Society

Membership is based on citizenship, leadership, scholarship and service. Seventh grade students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average during their second semester of 6th grade and first semester of 7th grade are invited to join National Junior Honor Society in April of their 7th grade year. Membership is during 8th & 9th grade as long as they continue meeting the requirements for membership during their 8th and 9th grade year. Faculty determines those students who will be invited to become members.
NJHS members meet monthly during Community and meeting dates are announced ahead of time.
Science Olympiad Team
Sponsor: Sheila Gilbert
The Science Olympiad Team uses STEM to investigate 23 different topics. They compete around Oklahoma in competitions where they have built or researched one of the 23 topics. This year they also will be going through the National Geographic Inquiry learning process, where they will try to find a solution to Broken Arrow water and algae bloom issue. The team consist of 20 students and they meet during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time).
Student Council

Student Council is an organization that gives students the opportunity to be leaders, organize school events, and to help with activities in the community. Student officers must be in 7th or 8th grade, but all students may serve as representatives. Interested students should plan to attend all meetings, help with fundraisers and community activities, and should be a leader throughout the school. Students should maintain a “C” average in all classes and always demonstrate acceptable behavior. Student council members meet during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time).
Technology Student Association

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is the national co-curricular CareerTech Student Organization for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students. TSA chapters take the study of STEM beyond the classroom and give students the chance to pursue academic challenges among friends with similar goals and interests. Together, chapter members work on competitive events, attend conferences on the state and national levels and have a good time raising funds to get there. Chapter organization develops leadership, as members may become officers within their state and then run nationally. TSA chapters are committed to a national service project and are among the most service-oriented groups in the community.
Any student enrolled in Technology Engineering is a member of TSA and may be actively involved while enjoying the benefits of TSA membership including:
Student Leadership - students elect local chapter officers to establish chapter priorities and activities.
Contact with business - competitive events and classroom speakers provide students with a connection to the world of business and industry.
Students receive national recognition - through the achievement program which recognizes student achievements in community, school, and volunteer activities.
Teaches Civic Responsibility - a national service project award allows chapters to volunteer their efforts to help with a national concern.
Tiger Challenge

Our Tiger Challenge Club follows the district’s Tiger Challenge initiative to promote Tenacity, Integrity, Gratitude, Expectations, Respect and Scholarship into our daily lives. We will work on character development as well as how to make good choices – not destructive decisions. This club will also encompass the tenants of Students Against Destructive Decisions Club. Meetings will be held during Community Hour on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time). Let’s learn what it means to be a Tiger!

Yearbook
Sponsor:
Yearbook is a wonderful organization that provides students with the opportunity to learn crucial life skills such as working well with others, running a small business, and meeting deadlines. Students are taught about photography, writing, designing creative layouts online, advertising, and selling the yearbook. Ultimately, students are charged with the task of capturing all of those important events and memories that happened this year at CMS!
The yearbook staff is open to 7th and 8th graders through an application process in the fall. Yearbook students meet during Community on Tuesdays/Thursdays (flex time).
