Derek Blackburn was born and raised in Broken Arrow and is a 1990 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. Both his parents are educators as well as his sister and brother-in-law. His mother taught in BA schools for 28 years before retiring. Mr. Blackburn graduated from Pittsburg State University with both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Science. While at Pittsburg State University he was a member of the 1991 NCAA Division II National Championship Football Team and served as a graduate assistant while obtaining his Master’s degree. Mr. Blackburn joined Broken Arrow Schools in 1996. In that time he taught World History at BAHS for three years, Driver’s Education at SIHS for three years, coached Football for six years, served as Assistant Principal at BAHS for seven years, and Associate Principal at BAHS for one year. Mr. Blackburn has been in his current position, Principal Broken Arrow High School, since 2010. His wife, Dana, currently teaches for the district and has taught on and off in the district since 1997, only taking time off to raise their children. They have three children, all whom attend Broken Arrow schools. |
Dru Dixon, Assistant PrincipalE-mail Mr. Dixon Dru Dixon has been in education for 19 years. The first 12 years being spent teaching all math subjects, coaching and the last 7 years in administration, five of those years at Broken Arrow Senior High. Dixon received his masters degree from Northeastern as well as bachelors. He comes from a family of educators, with both parents retired from education and a sister that is an administrator at Purcell. Dixon has three younger children and his wife is an administrator at Oologah Public Schools. He enjoys being around students and the whole process of school. Dixon likes watching students grow from year to year, and knowing that he influences their next steps in life. |

Jennifer Hudgins is a graduate of Darrouzett High School. She earned her bachelor of art in English and Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. Ms. Hudgins joined Broken Arrow Public Schools in August 2008 and became the Academic Assistant Principal at South Intermediate High School in January 2009. Prior to coming to Broken Arrow, Ms. Hudgins worked in Coweta Public Schools, Keller ISD and Eagle-Mountain Saginaw ISD as an English teacher and school administrator. |

Patrick James is a graduate of Oklahoma Wesleyan University (formerly Bartlesville Wesleyan College), where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education Social Studies and a minor in Psychology. He received his Masters in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University in 2007. A son of career teachers, Mr. James comes to Broken Arrow after a 17 year career in Skiatook which included positions in coaching, teaching, and administration. Mr. James has been married to his wife Jennifer for 20 years and looks forward to many successful years in the Broken Arrow community. |
Grace Lannert, Assistant Principal/Activities DirectorE-mail Ms. Lannert Grace Lannert is the activities director and assistant principal for students services at Broken Arrow High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio State and her Master of Education from Western Carolina University, as well as an EdS in Administration and Supervision from Western Carolina. Her career spans 41 years and in three states (Oklahoma, New Jersey and North Carolina) in varying capacities of teacher, coach, director and administrator. |

Tammy Strickland has been a proud Broken Arrow Tiger since fourth grade and is a 1994 BAHS graduate. She attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and went on to earn her Master’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to her twelve years as a math teacher at Haskell Middle School,she has worked as a district learning coach, LITT (Lead Instructional Technology Teacher), and a basketball and softball coach. Tammy enjoys sharing time with family and friends, especially with her husband, Chris and their three-year-old son, Barton. Prior to this year, she served as assistant principal at South Intermediate for the 2011-2012 school year and is excited for the opportunity to serve the students and staff at BAHS. |
