We are very proud of our Tigers and are excited about the future of our programs. Athletics is one of the most important elements in the overall education of our students. Sports provide an opportunity to extend the learning process through interscholastic competition.
The Broken Arrow athletic program is consistent with school's overall philosophy and objectives. We provide a vigorous and diverse athletic program, offering opportunities to all of our students.

Ken Ellett, Executive Director of Athletics Ken Ellett was born in Reedsburg, Wisconsin where he graduated from Webb High School in 1975. Ellett grew up with four brothers and five sisters. While in high school, Mr. Ellett participated in football, wrestling and track. Mr. Ellett was a 1979 graduate from North Dakota State University where he completed his bachelor’s degree. After graduation he stayed on at NDSU as a graduate assistant in the football program and earned his master’s degree in Secondary Education. Mr. Ellett coached football at NDSU, the University of Tulsa and the University of Wisconsin over the next several years and took the Athletic Directors position at Broken Arrow in 1990. Mr. Ellett has been named Oklahoma Region 7 Athletic Director of the year four times, and in 2009 was named Oklahoma Athletic Director of the year. His wife, Cindy, has been an elementary teacher in Broken Arrow since 1993. Their two sons graduated from Broken Arrow High School. |

Rusty Stecker, Assistant Athletic Director & Head Boys Basketball Coach Email- rstecker@basachools.org Rusty Stecker is a graduate of Sand Springs High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma Wesleyan College in Bartlesville and a Master’s of Science degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Mr. Stecker was hired by Broken Arrow Public schools in 1994 and has taught Physical Education at three different schools; Haskell Middle School, Oliver Middle School, and the Senior High. Mr. Stecker also serves as the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, a position he has held since 1999. He has been in his current position, Assistant Director of Athletics since March of 2011. Prior to coming to Broken Arrow, Mr. Stecker worked as an assistant basketball coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan College for two years and worked as an Insurance Agent for Farmers Insurance Company for one year. |

Steve Spavital, Assistant Athletic Director & Head Football Coach Steve Spavital joined the Broken Arrow Athletic Department as Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Football coach in January of 2007; and recently became the Head Football coach in 2010. |

Melenda Knight, Spirit Coordinator Melenda Knight is a proud K-12 graduate of Broken Arrow Schools where she was a Varsity Cheerleader. She has had 20 years of experience coaching cheer and is a Level 3 NCA Certified Coach and Judge. Mrs. Knight graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1993 with a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education. She began her professional career at Broken Arrow in 1993 where she taught Social Studies, English and Computer classes at Sequoyah, Oliver and Centennial Middle Schools and coached 8th grade, JV and competitive cheer teams. Mrs. Knight joined the Athletic Department as Spirit Coordinator in April 2011 and will receive her Master's Degree in Education Administration in December 2011 from the University of Oklahoma. |
