Distance learning begins April 6 for all students, resources now available online

Broken Arrow Public Schools will utilize distance learning methods in which students complete coursework at home beginning April 6 until the end of the school year.

“Although this is not how we expected to end the school year, I am confident we will be successful in this new adventure,” said Karla Dyess, associate superintendent of instruction. “Our administrators, instructional specialists and teachers have been working hard to make sure our distance learning plans meet the needs of every student.”

If parents/students have internet access, please visit www.baschools.org/distancelearning for more information about assignments and activities for distance learning. If you do not have internet access, you can find assignment packets and instructions at all three Broken Arrow Walmart Supercenters.

“As we begin distance learning, we encourage students to remember our goals for the rest of the year: to strengthen the academic skills they’ve already learned and to practice concepts that will help us prepare for the next school year,” Dyess said.

The last day of instruction will occur between May 8 and May 22. This will provide flexibility to allow teachers to work with students who are struggling to meet standards, as the district’s goal is that all students are successful using the virtual format. In layman’s terms, all students will have an end date of May 8 unless teachers feel the need to continue working with students individually who are struggling, in which case their last day might be May 22.
