Two BAHS students selected to compete in regional theatre competition May 24, tickets on sale now
Senior Roxy Blish and junior Cameron Bruner were recently selected to participate in the upcoming Eastern Oklahoma High School Musical Theatre Discovery Awards because of their performance in Broken Arrow High School’s rendition of “Seussical the Musical.” The competition will take place May 24 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Tickets are on sale now for $25.
“The Discovery Awards program recognizes the talent of area high school students who performed in qualifying roles in their school musicals,” said Jana Ellis, Broken Arrow High School drama instructor. “Judges attended our production in April and nominated Roxy Blish, who played Gertrude McFuzz, and Cameron Bruner, who played Horton the Elephant. We are so excited to watch them take the Tiger Theatre spirit of excellence to the national spotlight.”
This regional competition features 30 students from 14 schools in eastern Oklahoma with one girl and one boy taking home the grand prize - a trip to New York City for the national competition known as The Jimmy Awards.
"Roxy and Cameron represent so well the excellence that is personified in our fine arts programs at Broken Arrow High School," said Broken Arrow High School Principal Liz Burns. "They are wonderful examples of the quality of our theatre program and of its most recent production "Suessical the Musical."
