Board of Education
The Broken Arrow Board of Education is an elected Board and enjoys an excellent reputation for unselfish service to the community. School board members tackle the enormous job of governing the school district while preserving the core of our democratic values.
The Board is responsible for establishing policies under which the school system operates while acting within the framework of Oklahoma and federal laws and still being responsible for the unique needs of the community. As citizen leaders, individual school board members face complex and demanding challenges as they contribute hundreds of hours each year leading our district.

Steve Allen
Board of Education President, Zone 1 (Term expires April 2026)

Steve Allen has served as both a teacher and coach in Broken Arrow schools from 1998 to 2002, and is a 1989 graduate of Broken Arrow schools. He is employed as a senior risk consultant for Commercial Risk Group Inc. He belongs to several community organizations, including Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce, Broken Arrow Youth Football, Big Brothers of Oklahoma and more.
Zone 1 school sites are Park Lane ECC, Highland Park Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Oneta Ridge Middle School
Jerry Denton
Board of Education Vice President, Zone 5 (Term expires April 2025)

Jerry Denton was born and raised in the great state of Oklahoma with strong family ties to Broken Arrow, where his parents were businesses owners. Mr. Denton attended school from Kindergarten through graduation in the BA District. After high school graduation, he proudly served his home state and country in the U.S. Navy. After the service, and wanting to stay close to his roots, he returned to Broken Arrow to raise his family. Like their father, his children attended their entire K – 12 school years in Broken Arrow. Mr. Denton is a successful leader in the corporate world, and is currently the facilities engineer at Spirit AeroSystems.
Mr. Denton enjoys going to the lake with his family, riding his Harley and loves spending time with his granddaughter.
Mr. Denton says, “I continue to enjoy watching the district grow and want to help guide the vision of the district to be the best district in the state. I am proud to be a Tiger, forever!”
Zone 5 school sites are Oak Crest Elementary, Rhoades Elementary, Rosewood Elementary, Timber Ridge Elementary, Broken Arrow Options Academy
Brandy Roulet
Board of Education Clerk, Zone 4 (Term expires April 2029)

Ms. Brandy Roulet graduated from Broken Arrow in 1992, and then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Texas Woman’s University and her Master of Science from Oklahoma State University. She is currently an assistant professor of dental hygiene at Tulsa Community College.
Ms. Roulet and her husband, Steve, are proud parents of two Broken Arrow graduates.
Zone 4 school sites are Aspen Creek ECC, Aspen Creek Elementary, Spring Creek Elementary, Wolf Creek Elementary, Childers Middle School, Oliver Middle School
John Cockrell
Board of Education Deputy Clerk, Zone 3 (Term expires April 2028)

John Cockrell graduated from Broken Arrow in 1992 and is currently a captain and paramedic with the Broken Arrow Fire Department. He has served as president of the Broken Arrow Firefighters Association since 2010 and holds a bachelor’s degree in fire and emergency services from Northeastern State University.
Cockrell and his wife, Jonna, are the proud parents of three Broken Arrow graduates.
Zone 3 school sites are Creekwood ECC, Arrowhead Elementary, Country Lane Intermediate, Country Lane Primary, Creekwood Elementary, Centennial Middle School, Broken Arrow High School
Debbie Taylor
Board of Education Member, Zone 2 (Term expires April 2027)

Debbie Taylor has been a local business owner for more than 27 years and is a member of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Taylor’s sons graduated from Broken Arrow High School, and nine of her grandchildren currently attend Broken Arrow Public Schools.
Zone 2 school sites are Arrow Springs ECC, Leisure Park Elementary, Lynn Wood Elementary, Vandever Elementary, Sequoyah Middle School, Freshman Academy
