Health department to offer abstinence curriculum to seventh graders

Beginning Sept. 18, the Tulsa City-County Health Department will be offering “Making A Difference! An Abstinence Approach to Prevention of STDs, HIV and Teen Pregnancy” curriculum to seventh grade students. This 10-session, evidence-based curriculum will provide students with the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to make positive decisions. Student participation is voluntary and confidential.

If students choose not to participate in “Making A Difference,” his or her course grade will not be affected. Parents/guardians can elect to remove their child from the program at any time.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to preview the materials and meet the instructors at Parent Preview Night on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m. in Sequoyah's media center.

If you would like for your child to participate, please sign the consent form that was sent home with your child. Sign and return it to your child’s science teacher or Nurse Mace.
