Taking precautions against mumps
The Tulsa Health Department recently confirmed a mumps outbreak in Tulsa County, specifically in Owasso. While there are NO confirmed cases at Broken Arrow Public Schools, the district’s health services division is closely monitoring the situation.
As a precaution, a vaccine is available to protect children against mumps. The Tulsa Health Department is recommending that parents follow-up with their child’s healthcare provider to determine if the child is up-to-date on their mumps vaccination. Children that need to receive the mumps vaccine may get the vaccine from their healthcare provider or the Tulsa Health Department.
