‘Kindergarten 101’ parent meeting to inform about transitions, curriculum May 16
Broken Arrow Public Schools is pleased to help Kindergarten transition become easier for parents by providing an informational meeting that will focus on what to expect as the new school year approaches. The annual “Kindergarten 101” parent meeting will take place on Thursday, May 16, at Kirkland Theatre located at 808 E. College. This meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will last roughly an hour.
“We will discuss information about curriculum, daily schedules, transportation processes, and all of the nuts and bolts of kindergarten,” Associate Superintendent of Instructional Services Karla Dyess said. “We encourage all parents with an incoming kindergarten student to attend.”
Broken Arrow is proud to have 15 elementary schools that give students a place to embark upon new adventures in a classroom environment. All children who turn five years old by or on Sept. 1, 2019, are eligible for enrollment as a 2019-20 kindergarten student. Online kindergarten enrollment opens May 1. Please note enrollment will not take place at this meeting.
Current Pre-K students attending an Early Childhood Center (ECC) at Broken Arrow Public Schools will not need to re-enroll. Parents will need to update their student's immunization records with their ECC in order for the student to be promoted.
