Broken Arrow Parent Teacher Association
Throughout much of the district's history, the Broken Arrow Parent Teacher Association (BAPTA) has played an active role in improving public education for Broken Arrow students. Its several thousand members volunteer their time and creativity in a number of ways. The national PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the world, and this non-partisan, non-profit group is committed to seeking the best for children.
Membership is open to anyone. Individual members may belong to any number of PTAs and pay dues in each. Every person who joins a local PTA automatically becomes a member of both the state PTA and national PTA.
BAPTA Council meetings are held at Central on Main's (COM) ballroom on the first Tuesday of every month starting at 9:30 a.m. COM is located at 210 N. Main St. in Broken Arrow.

Advocacy
PTA began in 1897 and was known as the National Congress of Mothers with a mission to eliminate threats that endangered children. Since then, the PTA has taken a stand on important educational issues, such as school lunch, child labor laws, creation of kindergarten, juvenile justice, immunization, arts in education and school safety.
The PTA continues to encourage members to advocate for children. Advocacy can take many forms, including writing to legislators, raising awareness of a cause through events or discussing issues with friends.
