Hole-In-One, lots of fun at Foundation Golf Tournament

John Creekmore of the Public Service of Oklahoma team made sure the 7th Annual Broken Arrow Public Schools Golf Tournament would be memorable and exciting when he delivered a hole-in-one on the par 3 15th at Forest Ridge Golf Club to claim a one-carat diamond from Moody’s Jewelry and several golf clubs from Taylor Made and Kevin Grover GMC.

Creekmore’s ace also meant the difference between first and second place for the PSO team, which won the team championship by one stroke.

“It is the first hole-in-one in my life; I can’t believe it!” exclaimed Creekmore, who jumped up and down several times after seeing his ball go into the cup at 15. He screamed loud enough that most of the other 29 teams on the course knew something big had happened.

Russell Peterson, President of the Foundation said the entire event was exciting as he thanked sponsors and players for their support of the tournament at the awards ceremony.

“You helped us provide Broken Arrow’s terrific teachers with nearly $40,000 in grants last year and over $9000 in support for the Teacher of the Year program; thank you for helping support our teachers!"

Presenting sponsor of the event was again Saint Francis Hospital South.

The Robson Companies was Gold Sponsor.

Silver Plus sponsors were American Fidelity Assurance Company and Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

Ernest Moody (right) owner of Moody’s Jewelry presents a one-carat diamond (valued at $6000) to John Creekmore after Creekmore scored a Hole-in-One on the Moody’s Jewelry Hole-in-One hole during the 7th Annual Broken Arrow Public Schools Foundation Golf Tournament at Forest Ridge Golf Club.  Creekmore’s “gem” (on the course) helped his team (PSO) win the team championship in the event that raises money for incentive grants for Broken Arrow teachers.
Other performance prizes were Closest to the Pin on #13 won by  Kyle Rudolph of Key  Construction and the Longest Drive on #9 won by Chance Fitzgerald of the Pattison Metal Fab team.

While no golfer won the prize, golfers also had the opportunity to win a new GMC Sierra Truck with a hole in one on #7 courtesy of Kevin Grover GMC.

In addition, area businesses and restaurants donated over 60 door prizes to help the Foundation express appreciation to the participating golfers and sponsors.

Mike Herndon of the First National Bank & Trust team won two roundtrip tickets anywhere Southwest Airlines flies in the continental United States.

“This event is the Foundation’s chief fundraiser each year so we are very pleased that this year’s tournament was again a tremendous success as our teachers will benefit from the generosity of our sponsors,” Butch Green of Gavco Plastics and tournament co-chair explained.

All participants also expressed appreciation for the outstanding support turned in by the staff of Forest Ridge Golf Club, which hosted the event for the seventh straight year.
