
FFA members participate in livestock show
Members of the Broken Arrow FFA chapter participated in the Broken Arrow Livestock Show on Saturday, Feb. 20. The livestock show is sponsored by the Broken Arrow FFA Alumni and held at the FFA Alumni farm.
FFA members exhibited livestock they have been raising as part of their Supervise Agricultural Experience projects. Cattle, goats, sheep and swine were all exhibited at the livestock show, and are judged on confirmation and growth, as compared to the ideals for their breed. FFA members also competed for Showmanship awards, in which the exhibitor is judged on the ability to present their livestock project
Winners included: Grand Champion Goat – Shelby Parker, Grand Champion Sheep – Christina McKee, Reserve Champion Sheep – Jessi Collins, Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Market Swine – Matt Parker, Grand Champion Steer – Kurtis Wheeler, Senior Goat Showmanship and Cattle Showmanship – Shelby Parker, Senior Sheep Showmanship – Chantel Leiker, and Senior Swine Showmanship – Matt Parker. Prizes and ribbons were also awarded to class and breed winners during livestock show.
The Broken Arrow FFA Alumni fundraises throughout the year to sponsor the livestock show. The FFA Alumni will host its annual Dinner and Trophy Auction to sell sponsorship of this year’s prizes on March 6, 2010 at the Broken Arrow Senior High cafeteria at 6 PM. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased from the FFA Advisors at Broken Arrow Senior High.
Broken Arrow FFA is the local Chapter of the Oklahoma FFA Association and the National FFA Organization.
