Beginning in 8th grade, students who are on an IEP, are given a career awareness presentation where they receive information on vocational opportunities offered in Grades 9-12 and are encouraged to begin to plan for post high school activities. By the time the students are 14 years of age they are invited to attend their own IEP meetings where they play a major role in planning for their individual transition from high school to post high school training. In addition to the IEP meetings, students in Grades 8-12, along with their parents, are invited to attend a Transition Fair. This Transition Fair allows for students and parents to meet with representatives from the community for the purpose of collecting information and planning for post high school training.
