Child Find

Broken Arrow Public Schools maintain an ongoing Child Find search designed to locate, identify and evaluate any child, ages 3-21, in need of special education services who resides in a private home, residential facility or other housing, or who attends a private or parochial school, a home school, or private or parochial preschool. This also includes migrant, highly mobile and homeless children, all living within the boundaries of BA Public Schools.

Child identification, location, and evaluation for the birth through 2 years age group is accomplished in cooperation with other State publicly funded agencies and the Sooner Start Early Intervention Program administered by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The annual search includes any child in need of Special Education services, regardless of the severity of their suspected disability or need for related services, who is already enrolled and advancing from grade to grade within the Broken Arrow Public School system.

Child Find activities contain a mandate for public awareness of contact, location and established screening procedures. Information regarding evaluation and categorical determination is available, at no cost to the parent or guardian, upon request by contacting Special Services Center at 112 N. Main, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Phone contact is available at 918-259-4540.
