Head Start band is designed for incoming 6th graders that are enrolled in the band classes at their prospective middle school. The students must have contact with the director from their school and have been placed on their beginning brass instrument prior to enrolling in this class. The class book will be the Standard of Excellence for the specific instrument. Instrument rental/purchases can be contracted at any of the local Music Stores. The books and materials needed for this class are also available at the local music stores. Instruction on an interactive computer program that encourages students to continue with their learned skills will also be discussed in this class.

For Jazz Improvisation you will need to provide your own instrument. Some materials will be provided and additional class books and materials will be discussed and purchase locations will be given at the first meeting of this class. The books and materials needed for this class will available at the local music stores.

The purpose of BA Band Academy will be to provide a summer educational experience that will offer musical growth and discovery through performance excellence. Students will have the opportunity to interact and perform with their peers from all five middle schools. The Broken Arrow Band Academy will encourage middle school students to keep playing music over the summer as well as prepare them for success in band for the upcoming year. This course will have master classes included as well as student performance opportunities. Instruction on an interactive computer program that encourages students to continue with their learned skills will also be discussed in this class.
