New academic communications tool for BAPS parents, students

As part of the 2008-2013 Broken Arrow Public Schools Comprehensive Local Education Plan (CLEP), BAPS is committed to improving communications between school and parents.  One of the best ways to accomplish that goal is to boost access for parents to their children’s grades, assignments and homework, as well as current attendance records.

That’s why the Broken Arrow Board of Education recently approved the web-hosted “Edline” as the district’s parent portal that will provide current and updated student information for parents in a secure password protected online setting.  With Edline, parents will be able to access their child’s information through the district website at www.baschools.org

Edline will give Broken Arrow parents the ability to find important information fast.  With this new communications tool, parents of Broken Arrow Public Schools students have the ability to see their child’s current grades, a calendar of current assignments, and their child’s attendance records for each class.  This parent access will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be regularly updated so as to be as current as technologically possible.  The district is planning to make passwords and access to this new tool available at the Fall Parent Teachers Conferences (held Oct. 14 and 15).

“I was pleased when our school board approved our new CLEP (in March 2008) because I knew that improved communications would be the result of this CLEP,” Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jim Sisney said.  “Having Edline available to our students’ parents will certainly give our students’ parents more updated student information in a more timely manner, which will increase and enhance parent involvement and I believe increase and enhance student success.”

Dr. Sisney also points out that students will have access to their personal information via Edline giving students an ability to monitor their academic performance while having an additional opportunity to access their assignments from home or other non-school site locations.
