BAPS seeks input regarding school calendar

Broken Arrow Public Schools is inviting parents, BAPS staff members, and members of the community to express their opinions regarding upcoming school year calendars that are currently being developed by the school district.

Opinions regarding the school calendars may be registered by completing the biennial online Calendar Standards Survey, which is available HERE.

The survey period will end online Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

In addition to questions about when the school year should start and end, participants in the survey will be asked to register their viewpoints regarding many calendar related issues including school holidays and preferred start and end dates for the school year.

"We understand the school calendar impacts our parents, staff, and community in a major way," BAPS Executive Director of Administrative Services, Curtis Green said. "We are very interested in the views of our parents and patrons and want to make it as convenient as possible for those interested in our school calendar to be able to register their opinion in this Calendar Standards Survey."

Green also pointed out that for those who may not have access to a computer, hard copies of the Calendar Standards Survey are available in the principal’s office at all district school sites. Those completing the hard copy version of the survey should return it to the principal’s secretary (at the school where the survey was obtained) or the Education Service Center North (601 S. Main) by Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

The Board of Education will make the final decision regarding school calendars. Green said results of the Calendar Standards Survey will be shared with the Board and used by administration in determining calendar choices for the Board to consider.
