Red Cross honors BAHS STUCO Blood Drive Again

The American Red Cross has honored Broken Arrow High School for having the most productive high school blood drive in Oklahoma.  It’s the fourth consecutive year that the BAHS Student Council led blood drive has been named the winner of the American Red Cross Challenge.

The American Red Cross collected 310 productive units of blood at the 2008 BAHS event, which translates into some 930 lives impacted.  It’s the third time in the last eight years that the BAHS STUCO Blood Drive has surpassed the 300 mark.

Winning the American Red Cross Challenge carries with it a $1000 award for BAHS.  In previous years, Student Council has used these funds to provide scholarships, laptops, and guest speakers to BAHS students.

In addition to the top high school award, BAHS principal Rob Armstrong and BAHS STUCO sponsor Steve Schwab were also recognized by the American Red Cross for their roles in helping making the 2008 BAHS STUCO Blood Drive so successful.

“We would like to thank the American Red Cross, Student Council, Senior Board, and the people at BAHS for their continued support in saving lives every year with their participation in this important event at our school,” Mr. Schwab said.  “Our kids who donate are heroes. They help save many lives through this event.”
